Hakka Manual Breast Pump
As a new mom, I’d seen a lot being said about the Hakka but didn’t feel the need to buy it until my 3rd baby. I'm constantly on the lookout for products that make life easier, so when I rediscovered the Hakka silicone breast pump, I was intrigued. A pump that's portable, affordable, and requires no electricity? Sign me up! But is it all it's cracked up to be? Let's dive into my Hakka breast pump review.
Pros
Simple and Portable: This pump is incredibly easy to use. Just place it on your breast while nursing on the other side, and the natural let-down reflex does the work. It's also compact and lightweight, making it perfect for travel or discreet pumping on the go.
Gentle and Comfortable: The soft silicone material is comfortable against the skin, has a great suction suction which is moderately strong but gentle enough to avoid irritation. This is a major plus for moms with sensitive skin or nipple soreness especially when beginning to breastfeed. You’re able to adjust it to your comfort
Multi-functional: You can use the Hakka as a pump to collect let-down milk, for relief from engorgement, or even to catch milk that sprays while nursing. It's a versatile little tool that can come in handy in many situations.
Easy to clean: Due to silicon material, its very easy to clean and reuse. You’re able to place the Hakka in the dishwasher as long as it on the top rack.
Cons
Manual pump : I would not recommend it to be used as an alternative to an electric pump. Unlike electric pumps, the Hakka requires some manual manipulation to create suction. This can be tiring, especially during long pumping sessions. Its more like a product that could be used along side pumping or breastfeeding to not let any milk go to waste.
Suction loosens: The suction loosens when you’re having longer feeds. Meaning you’ll have to readjust the Hakka to create a better suction again which can be a little annoying for some.
Potential for Spills: The pump can tip over if not positioned correctly, leading to lost milk. This can be frustrating, especially if you're dealing with a low supply. However, you are able to purchase a lid for the Hakka to avoid spills.
Limited Efficiency: While the Hakka can be effective for collecting let-down milk or relieving engorgement, it may not be powerful enough for moms who need to pump large volumes regularly.
The Hakka breast pump is a great option for moms who are looking for a simple, portable, and affordable way to collect let-down milk or relieve engorgement. However, it's important to be realistic about its limitations. If you need a pump for exclusive pumping or have a low milk supply, this might not be the best choice, but a great tool to be used along side breastfeeding or electric pumping.
Overall, I would recommend the Hakka to moms who:
Want a gentle and comfortable option for occasional pumping
Need a portable pump for travel or on-the-go use
Are looking for a budget-friendly way to collect let-down milk or relieve engorgement
A tool to go along side a single electric pump whilst expressing milk
